Knowing how difficult it can be for people to find an accessible rental, either short or long term, I’m really excited to give you the scoop on this house. It belongs to a friend of mine and it’s been the scene of many a pool party. As a family it’s always been a joy to visit because the house is accessible and that’s rare when visiting family and friends.
My friend is flying the coop and off on an adventure for a while. Given the house is ideally located for anyone needing to be near Sydney’s hospitals or the rehabilitation options nearby, I begged her to share it here first. Like me, she would be happy for the house to be rented by someone who needs its accessible features. So here are the details.
This 3-bedroom air-conditioned wheelchair accessible house will be available for rent soon. It’s located in Ermington which is a 15-minute drive to the Westmead hospital precinct and 10 minutes to the Royal Rehab Centre. Right on the door step there’s a bus which will take you to either Parramatta or the city.
Electric gates make access to the level double carport just a press of a button away. The carport provides all weather cover for access to the house and doubles as the perfect entertaining area. Ramps take you up to the 1metre wide front door which leads into an open plan living and dining area.
The modern Caesar-stone galley kitchen and laundry flow off the dining area out to a deck which overlooks the low maintenance backyard and swimming pool.

THREE BEDROOMS
Three bedrooms lead off the living areas, all with widened doorways. 2 rooms have built-ins, 1 also has a sliding door for easy access.
ACCESSIBLE BATHROOM
The family bathroom is fully accessible, with space to transfer next to the toilet, and wheel-in access to the shower.
For any travelling companions who love a bath, I can highly recommend this one as being comfy!
EASY ACCESS TO YARD & POOL
Wheelchair access to the backyard and pool is through the side gate from the front of the property.
The fully fenced pool is divine. It’s a favourite with our kids because of the ledge all around the inside, the shallow end where BJ can walk around and its position usually means it’s warmer than most pools. The pool cover also helps keep the water temp at a good level.
There is the possibility of the house being rented fully or partially furnished if needed. The property will be available from the beginning of March for a minimum of 3 months. There’s the flexibility to negotiate a longer lease if needed and the property will be managed by a local real estate agent.
