Best Western Plus Sundial Scottsdale, Arizona review

Unfortunately, on this occasion we only had one night in Scottsdale. On a previous visit to Arizona I’d spent the day in Scottsdale and absolutely loved it. I was keen for Amelia to experience it too so I chose a hotel stay that would allow her to do some exploration ahead of my arrival. Amelia’s flight was arriving before mine so she had the whole afternoon to check out the town and when we met up that evening, I was pleased to hear she liked it as much as me. My flight delay didn’t allow me more than a drive through town but one day I hope to return for a few nights to soak in the atmosphere of the town.

Depending on traffic, Scottsdale is only a 20 minute drive from Phoenix Skyharbor International Airport. Old Town Scottsdale is a town that feels like it should be a back drop to a modern-day Western movie and offers boutique shopping and a plethora of dining options. The town is level and pathways link the dining and shopping areas seamlessly.

Best Western Plus Sundial is a comfortable accommodation choice. I picked it based on price and reviews and it served its purpose as an overnight hotel. An included breakfast was welcomed and although we didn’t have time to indulge in a swim, the pool area looked inviting.

We stayed in an ADA king-bedded room with roll-in shower. The room was a bit of distance from reception but elevator access was available to the first-floor accommodation.

The room offered good circulation space on either side of the bed. Like many US hotels the bed base was solid, so there is no room for a hoist/hoyer lifter underneath.

A coffee machine, mini-fridge and wardrobe with lowered hanging rail are also available in the room.

The bathroom offered lowered features including towel rails, grab rails and an accessible wash basin. A height adjustable shower wand and shower stool are also provided. As is the case with many accessible hotel rooms, there was nowhere to store a toiletries bag.

Sunny Arizona days make a dip in the pool a must. The Best Western Plus Sundial Hotel in Scottsdale offers a pool with pool seat to make access easier.

The included breakfast was really good. Instead of a buffet it was more of a café set up with someone serving the various items. We were able to pick several items from the menu which fuelled us for the day and also provided a few snacks for the journey. I had the scrambled eggs and potatoes and a bagel and Amelia had pancakes. We both grabbed a fresh muffin and banana for the road and left ready for our big day’s drive.

As an overnight hotel, The Best Western Plus Sundial was a good pick.
