Cambria Hotel & Suites Anaheim Resort Area – hotel review

After staying in multiple hotels in the Anaheim area I’ve decided Cambria Hotel & Suites is a little bit special. The family-friendly resort is well located for travellers looking for easy access to the Disney Parks and offers a good range of facilities. While families will love the water park, outdoor movies and games area, the hotel is also a winner for couples and solo travellers. On my recent stay in Anaheim I stayed overnight at Cambria Hotel & Suites and had the opportunity to review an accessible suite.

Cambria Hotel & Suites offers comfortable modern accommodation that makes good use of space to ensure larger family groups can be accommodated. A king-size bed, bunk beds and the option of a trundle is an unusual find, particularly in an accessible hotel room.

I was surprised that there is so much bedding in the room and yet it still feels spacious. I think that comes from having a lounge area attached.

Lowered hanging space, iron & ironing board and a safe are available in the wardrobe in the bedroom.  The wardrobe is well lit with a light that comes on when the doors are opened, making finding items easy.

What a delight it was to find both a bath and roll-in shower in the suite. So often partners of people with a disability look forward to a soak in a bubble bath while travelling but the majority of accessible accommodation only offers a shower. At Cambria Hotel & Suites I had both.

Towels are positioned at a lower level and the bath is fitted with a height adjustable shower head and regular fixed tap.

Bathroom facts – Bathroom door clearance 82cm (just over 32 inches) due to the sliding barn style door, height to toilet seat 42cm (16.5 inches), height to toilet pan 40cm (just under 16 inches).

I only had an overnight stay so I didn’t have much time for lounging in the lounge room but I love the space it offers.

For longer stays and for families this extra seating would be invaluable.

A small kitchenette with full-size fridge and microwave is located on entry to the suite. It’s lovely to have options for seating both in the kitchenette and lounge area.

As many travellers with a disability know, it’s rare to get a good view from an accessible room so it was a nice surprise to have a room overlooking the waterpark for excellent people watching.

Cambria Hotel & Suites offers guests a complimentary hot breakfast and it’s a hearty one at that with a good selection of hot and cold offerings.

By far the most popular item on the menu is the make your own Mickey waffles and yes, they are as good as they look, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. So good I went back for seconds. The other guests seemed familiar with the waffle making process but I had to have a staff member kindly instruct me to turn the waffle maker to start the timer working. On my second run I made Mickey waffles like a pro! Make your own waffles aren’t a thing in Australia so that’s my excuse for taking a while to catch on.

The Cambria Hotel & Suites also caters well to guests with dietary requirements. In fact, it was the only hotel during my stay in the US that had easy to find information regarding accommodations for travellers with specific dietary needs. The hotel offers soy and oat milk, gluten-free bagel (in sealed plastic) gluten-free blueberry muffins (in a sealed wrapper) gluten-free Cheerios cereal (in a sealed bowl pak). Many of the hot food offerings area also gluten-free. No nut products are used in the kitchen.

The breakfast dining room is spacious and offers a mixture of booth seating and chairs at table more suitable for wheelchair users or those with a mobility device.

Even though there was a bit of a spring chill to the air, plenty of guests were relaxed around the pool to watch the evening movie. In summer I can imagine the pool area is even more popular with plenty of movie-goers cooling off while enjoying the evening movie.

As with all US hotels, Cambria Hotel & Suites has pool seat lifters for guest access into the pool.

Various games, fire pits and a basketball court make this a property one with extra bells and whistles which will keep the whole family entertained in any downtime.

These additional facilities make this the perfect hotel for those wanting to have a day off from the Disney Parks as there’s still plenty to do but at a relaxed pace.

For guests looking for snacks or souvenirs there is a mini mart in the hotel lobby. I stopped by for some Crunchie Dibs (a delicious container of bite-sized chocolate coated ice cream snacks) before bed. Why do we not have Dibs in Australia?

Cambria Hotel & Suites has an ART bus stop just around the corner. The ART transport system offers transportation, including wheelchair accessible transportation, around Anaheim and to the Disney Parks. It’s a super easy and stress-free way of getting around.

I was hosted at Cambria Hotel & Suites but as always my opinions are my own. Hopefully the images and information in this review will assist you in deciding if Cambria Hotel & Suites will be suitable for your needs.
