For those that need the facilities offered in Changing Places bathrooms, it’s good to know where to find one. Having a list of the bathroom locations when you are road tripping will hopefully help avoid big detours. No-one needs to make a drive any longer just because of a bathroom stop.
Recently I had a family member check out the Changing Places bathroom at the BP Ballina Travel Centre in New South Wales. It’s in a handy location for anyone road tripping the East Coast of Australia on the M1 so I thought I’d share the details.
Changing Places bathroom BP Ballina Travel Centre NSW
The Changing Places bathroom is located at the BP Ballina Travel Centre, just through the glass doors and next to KFC. A MLAK key is required to access the bathroom.
Once inside, remember to lock the door by pressing the black button until the red light is illuminated.
The bathroom offers a spacious area with adult-size change bed and a ceiling track hoist that runs to the change bed and the toilet.
Grab rails that can be lifted up for transferring are located beside the toilet and privacy is offered with the option of a screen. It’s always nice to do your business with some dignity, especially when travelling with care staff.
The height-adjustable change bed is designed to assist with saving the back of those assisting the person with a disability ensuring the change bed is a good height for each individual.
A shower with bench seat and hand-held shower wand is also located in the Changing Places bathroom.
We’d love to see Changing Places bathrooms located in the large service station centres along highways in Australia to make travelling easier for those who need these facilities.
BP Travel Centre Ballina is located at 41 Bruxner Highway, West Ballina, NSW.
While it is handy to know about a Changing Places bathroom that allows you to continue on your road trip after a quick stop, we think it’s worth staying in Ballina if you have the time available.
