Driving into Williams, Arizona, we immediately knew two nights in this town was the right choice. As soon as we turned onto the main street, we could sense a fun atmosphere and The Ellsworth Hotel is close to all the action. In fact, the hotel’s excellent location allowed us to leave the car parked at the hotel for the duration of our stay. All the attractions were within an easy walk or wheel. Level pathways link the hotel to the Safeway Supermarket across the road, to the town’s restaurants and shopping.

The Ellsworth Hotel, Williams, Arizona
The stylish ADA/ accessible double queen-bedded room at The Ellsworth Hotel offers exceptionally spacious accommodation. Each bed has good circulation space on either side for transferring and there’s plenty of room for luggage and mobility equipment to be stored out of the way when not in use.

Additional handy features in the room include a full-length mirror, microwave, mini-fridge and coffee machine. The air conditioner is affective in dealing with Arizona’s heat and was thankfully a quiet unit. Strangely, despite all the other amenities in the room being lowered, the hanging rail in the wardrobe is at regular height.

Bedroom facts – entry door 80cm (31.5 inches) and bed height 71cm (28.5 inches).

The large bathroom is accessed by an easy-sliding barn-style door. The room is spacious and offers a toilet with grab rails, lowered amenities including towel rails at a good height for access, an accessible wash basin (though it is on the high side), space for toiletries on the bench and an accessible roll-in shower.

A shower bench, height adjustable shower wand and grab rails surround the shower. The one challenging element of the shower’s access is the position of the tap controls on the wall opposite to the shower bench. Its location making access to alter the temperature of the shower once seated near impossible.

A flexible plastic edging surrounds the shower to assist with containing the water within the shower cubicle. The edging flattens with any weight so it shouldn’t prove a barrier to those using shower commodes or anyone using a wheelchair to transfer to the shower bench.
Bathroom facts – entry door 78cm (31 inches), shower bench 46cm (18 inches), toilet height to pan 44cm (17 inches) and to seat 45cm (17.5 inches)

We are always appreciative of a hotel with a guest laundry so we made use of the washing facilities during our stay. We didn’t have time to play pool but as we noticed that plenty of guests seemed to enjoy a social game during their stay.

Accessible parking bays are available and parking is free.

The Ellsworth Hotel provided a comfortable base for our time in Williams. We loved the location of the hotel for the ease of accessing the town’s attractions and it was a bonus to be able to walk to the railway station to travel on the Grand Canyon Railroad to the Grand Canyon. Williams was a relaxed stop on our road trip, and we can highly recommend the Ellsworth as a comfortable accommodation option.
We were provided with a reduced rate for our stay but as always, our opinions are our own and we hope that the information in the review allow you to decide if a stay at the Ellsworth Hotel will suit your needs.
