We loved the USA. When we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to go on a second holiday and chose the U.S, lots of friends asked “Why go to the same place? Why not try somewhere different?”

The answer was simple, “accessibility” (and if I’m totally honest the shopping was very attractive to me!) We feel enormous effort has gone into making even older attractions in the US accessible.  We also found facilities were very good and hotels accommodating.
Staff at attractions were mostly ‘disability aware’ and considerate, making travel smooth and more pleasant. The USA has a huge variety making it a destination with something for everyone.
On our last trip we did the amazing coastal drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles and then we went on to San Diego and Disneyland.  What a drive!  My husband and I probably more imagined ourselves doing this drive in a topless red Mustang but with everything considered the more sensible option was a burgundy people mover!!!!

The scenery was still beautiful and I tell myself I had a much better view in the sensible people mover because it is so much higher (sad, I know, but that justification works for me!) I did lots of research before we travelled and apart from the internet I found the following books helpful; Frommers California Unofficial Guide Disneyland Unofficial Guide California with kids I also subscribed to emails from Mouse Planet for Disney updates and news on any rides due to close for renovation and any new rides.

  1. Hello. I like what you have done with this page. I have questions, especially about Los Angeles. My husband and I are taking our 26yr old son to LA for Medical treatment. He has A traumatic brain injury and I’m becoming bogged down in websites for accommodation.
We leave here on the 28th Dec and return on the 17th Jan.
We also want to go to disneyland and ? Las Vagus and a rive along the coast.
Any extra tips will be well received.
Hope to hear from you soon.
